Strathmore Highland Games, June 10

E: The Highland Games were a bunch of different contests. Some of them were Scottish dancing, tossing the caber (a really big log to make it land in front of you but flipped over), cycling, running, tug-of-war, and bagpipe competition.  I competed in one of the races and got third place. I liked watching the dancing and the pole throwing.

S: The Highland Games were really fun. I competed in the running for 9, 10, and 11 year olds. The same guys ran in a lot of the races and some were old – like 75 years old.  They would let the older runners start before the younger ones, and one got third place. It was fun, but it got a little boring after three hours.

A: The Highland Games had a lot of people. It had races and throwing heavy metal objects. I liked the tug-of-war. The tuggers leaned back to pull and had a coach who told them when to pull really hard all together.
