Falkirk Water Wheel, June 9

A: The Falkirk Water Wheel is a giant boat lift that moves boats to a higher canal.  It uses two wheels linked together with rotating platforms that bring boats up to a higher canal. It was very unique.
S: We saw the Falkirk Water Wheel. It is a contraption to transfer boats from a canal to a higher water way. It looks like a clock. It works with two buckets where a boat can be. They are opposite each other – one up, one down. They rotate to the right and one moves up and one down. I can’t believe that someone would think of that.
E: There was a playground at the water wheel. One spot had a bunch of water tools like wheels that you spin to get water from one spot to another and Archimedes screw. To collect water from Archimedes screw you ran on a treadmill that turns around and the bottom part that is shaped like a cone collects water. It was really fun.
